President Tokayev Offers Condolences Following Devastating Earthquake in China
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life and injuries caused by a devastating earthquake in the city of Xigaze, located in the Xizang Autonomous Region of China.
In a statement released by Akorda, President Tokayev extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and himself to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the families of the victims, and the people of China. “We share the grief of the friendly Chinese nation and wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” the Kazakh leader stated.
The earthquake, which struck Dingri County in Xigaze with a magnitude of 6.8, has claimed the lives of 53 people and left 62 others injured as of Tuesday noon, according to reports. Rescue and recovery efforts are ongoing in the affected areas.
President Tokayev’s message underscores Kazakhstan’s solidarity with China during this difficult time, reflecting the strong bond between the two nations.
