President Jokowi visits Batu Cermin Cave in Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana visited Batu Cermin Cave in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai District, East Nusa Tenggara, amid his trip to monitor the progress for the 42nd ASEAN Summit preparation.

During the trip, Jokowi and Iriana were accompanied by his eldest and youngest sons Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Kaesang Pangarep, and their respective spouses, Selvi Ananda and Erina Gudono.

Besides, Jokowi’s grandchildren from Raka and Ananda, Jan Ethes Srinarendra and La Lembah Manah, also joined the trip to the tourist attraction.

The president’s entourage, upon arrival at Batu Cermin Cave, was warmly welcomed by visitors and merchants at the spot.

While greeting visitors at the tourism attraction, Jokowi continues holding Srinarenda’s hand. The president did not let go of his grandson even when other tourists asked for a picture with him.

A souvenir seller in Batu Cermin Cave, Finka (26), said she was glad to seeing the president directly before her eyes.

“I cannot believe I saw the president (directly) today,” Finka stated joyfully.

Before visiting Batu Cermin Cave, Jokowi spent his morning in the backyard of Meruorah Hotel in Labuan Bajo where he stays with his family. He also took along Srinarendra while strolling around the hotel.

Jokowi and his entourage arrived by presidential aircraft at Labuan Bajo’s Komodo Airport on Saturday (April 22) at 06.44 pm local time, after spending his Eid al-Fitr morning in his hometown Surakarta, Central Java.

Meanwhile, President Director of Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BPOLBF) Shana Fatina confirmed that one of the president’s agenda during his visit is to observe the ASEAN Summit preparation hosted in Labuan Bajo.

“(The president) is (performing) the final check for the ASEAN Summit,” Fatina stated here on Sunday.
