President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Celebrates National Day of the Turkmen Horse with Equestrian Festival and Cultural Exhibitions

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, participated in the grand celebrations marking the National Day of the Turkmen Horse, held at the prestigious International Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex on Sunday.

During the event, the head of state visited a thematic exhibition showcasing the rich national horse breeding traditions of Turkmenistan. The exhibition featured yurts representing the country’s capital, Arkadag, and its various velayats, with displays of carpet weaving products, jewelry, and works by local sculptors and artists.

The celebrations were attended by prominent figures, including the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments, as well as diplomatic representatives and members of international organizations.

The highlight of the festivities was the equestrian competition, which saw dozens of horses compete across seven races of varying distances. The main prize, presented by President Berdimuhamedov, and the Challenge Cup in the final race at 1800 meters, were claimed by the horse Bezirgen, owned by the President’s Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex, ridden by master jockey B. Agamyradov.

Earlier in the week, marathon and show jumping competitions were also held. In the long-distance marathon, the top performance was by the horse Polat, with rider S. Seyidov, while in show jumping, Altynkhan and jockey Y. Chopanov took home the victory.

To conclude the event, President Berdimuhamedov was presented with a decorative carpet, commemorating the National Day of the Turkmen Horse, a symbol of the country’s deep cultural heritage and longstanding equestrian traditions.
