Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the newly constructed Water Sports Palace in the Yakkasaray district of the capital, a state-of-the-art facility owned by the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.
The Water Sports Palace, built using the expertise from countries with advanced water sports programs, offers exceptional facilities for both professional athletes and amateurs. The complex includes a large hall featuring a 50-meter swimming pool with seating for 500 spectators, enabling the venue to host international competitions and national team training sessions. Additionally, there are dedicated diving and small pools for children to learn water sports.
The facility serves a broad spectrum of the community, including young people, work teams, and veterans, with the capacity to accommodate 100 individuals simultaneously and over a thousand visitors daily.
On the second floor, the complex houses administrative offices, coaches’ rooms, a conference room, a gym, and special rooms for sports commentators. A Water Sports School has also been established within the complex to foster the development of young athletes.
During his visit, President Mirziyoyev observed the training of young athletes, encouraging them and inspiring them to achieve great success. He highlighted the significant progress of 13 athletes from the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan who have qualified for the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris this year. The President engaged in discussions with these athletes and their coaches about their preparation efforts.
“We place great importance on constructing sports complexes in both cities and villages and promoting sports. Young people who engage in sports will not only be healthy but will also serve as role models for their children. Professional athletes like you are a source of pride and inspiration for the youth,” said President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and promoting a healthy lifestyle among its citizens, further solidifying Uzbekistan’s dedication to nurturing future sports champions.
