Morocco and France’s Normandy Region Strengthen Cooperation on Energy Transition and Sustainable Development

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco and France’s Normandy Region have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in energy transition, renewable energy, and sustainable development through a high-level meeting held in Rabat.
The meeting brought together Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, and a delegation led by Hervé Morin, President of the Normandy Region, to deepen collaboration in areas such as green hydrogen, energy efficiency, and civilian nuclear energy.
Strategic Energy and Scientific Partnerships

Minister Benali highlighted Morocco’s firm commitment to sustainable energy transition under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, referencing the strategic Morocco-France partnership agreement signed in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron, which focuses on green hydrogen and clean technologies.
Normandy as a Key Partner
Hervé Morin praised Morocco’s role as a regional leader in energy transition, calling the country a model for Africa and the Mediterranean. He emphasized Normandy’s strengths in civilian nuclear technology, green hydrogen, and engineering education, positioning the region as an ideal partner for long-term cooperation with Morocco.
The meeting also saw the participation of the French Ambassador to Morocco and representatives from major French energy research institutions and universities. Officials from the French Embassy in Rabat also joined the discussions, underscoring the importance of academic and decentralized cooperation.
