Transavia Airlines Expands Moroccan Network with New Amsterdam-Agadir Route

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Transavia Airlines marked a significant milestone as its first direct Amsterdam-Agadir flight landed at Al Massira Airport yesterday, carrying 176 passengers. The April 1 launch introduces a key route to the Dutch carrier’s expanding Moroccan network.
The new service is the result of collaboration between the Souss Massa Regional Council and the Agadir Souss Massa Tourism Board. Flights will operate three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays—providing increased connectivity between the Netherlands and Morocco.
“We are seeing an increasing demand for destinations in Morocco. We would like to facilitate this for our passengers,” said Marcel de Nooijer, CEO of Transavia. “It is a beautiful and versatile country. I am proud that we have added Agadir and now also Rabat to our network. This offers our passengers even more possibilities, whether for a sunny escape, a business trip, or visiting family.”
Agadir, a popular coastal destination, already offers connections to over 30 international cities via various airlines, as well as domestic services to Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, Tangier, Laayoune, and Dakhla.
Transavia is set to expand further, announcing plans to introduce direct Amsterdam-Rabat flights starting November 2025, operating twice weekly. Tickets for the winter 2025/2026 season will be available for booking from April 16.
Known for its beaches, year-round mild climate, and renowned surf spots, Agadir attracts sun-seekers and adventure enthusiasts alike. Visitors can enjoy fresh seafood and traditional tagines along the city’s lively waterfront boulevard.
Meanwhile, Rabat, Morocco’s capital, offers a different experience with its UNESCO-listed Kasbah des Oudaias, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a thriving contemporary art scene, and the Royal Gardens.
Agadir Al Massira Airport recorded 3.1 million passengers in 2024—a 36% increase from 2023, according to the Office National Des Aéroports (ONDA). To accommodate this growing demand, the airport is set to undergo expansion, modernizing and enlarging its facilities.
These upgrades align with Morocco’s “Airports 2030” strategy, an initiative aimed at transforming the country into a major aviation hub ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host.
