Rahmon, Tokayev Discuss Energy, Logistics and Humanitarian Cooperation in Astana Meeting

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana on Wednesday, focusing on the current state and future prospects of friendly relations, strategic partnership and allied cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of President Rahmon’s participation in the opening ceremony of the international competition “Games of the Future” in Astana.

During the talks, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation across almost all areas and emphasized the importance of maintaining regular political dialogue, as well as expanding trade, economic and investment ties in areas of mutual interest.

Particular attention was paid to increasing bilateral trade volumes and developing cooperation in transport and logistics, digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

The sides highlighted the significant growth rate of bilateral trade turnover during the first half of the current year, noting the continued expansion of economic interaction between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

In view of developments in global and regional energy markets, the two presidents discussed opportunities to further increase exports of Kazakh petroleum products to the Tajik market.

The leaders also placed emphasis on strengthening cooperation in cultural and humanitarian fields. They expressed readiness to enhance creative, educational and academic exchanges, while promoting cooperation in tourism, sports and other areas of shared interest.

The meeting also included discussions on cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan within international and regional organizations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries and strengthening cooperation for the benefit of their peoples.
