Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Trade turnover between Russia and African countries has increased 1.5 times since 2022, exceeding $27 billion, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on October 28.
According to Russia’s TASS news agency, Putin highlighted the growth in trade relations between Russia and African nations, noting that the expansion reflected the strengthening of economic engagement between the two sides.
“The main figures are that trade is growing between Russia and Africa. Its total volume increased by 1.5 times and was above $27 billion since 2022,” Putin said.
The Russian president also noted that Egypt accounts for a significant share of Russia’s overall trade turnover with African countries, underlining Cairo’s importance in Moscow’s economic relations with the continent.
The remarks came during discussions between Putin and al-Sisi, reflecting the continuing focus on bilateral economic ties and broader Russia-Africa trade cooperation.
The increase in trade turnover highlights the growing importance of commercial engagement between Russia and African economies, with Egypt remaining a significant partner in these exchanges.
