Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Support for Sudan at UN Human Rights Council

Geneva, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, reiterated the Kingdom’s unwavering support for Sudan in overcoming its ongoing crisis and achieving a sustainable political resolution.

Speaking at the UN Human Rights Council, Ambassador Khothaila highlighted Saudi Arabia’s active diplomatic role in mediating the conflict, particularly through the Jeddah talks, which were hosted by Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the United States. He described these discussions as a crucial step in facilitating dialogue between Sudan’s warring parties, with the primary objectives of protecting civilians, securing a ceasefire, and ensuring the stability of Sudan’s state institutions.

The ambassador emphasized that resolving Sudan’s crisis requires an immediate cessation of hostilities and a strengthened humanitarian response to support the Sudanese people. He also stressed the importance of paving the way for a stable and secure political future that aligns with the aspirations of Sudan’s citizens and prevents further escalation of the conflict.
