Somon Air to Launch Direct Dushanbe-Minsk Flights from August 29

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan’s national airline, Somon Air, will launch weekly direct flights between Dushanbe and Minsk starting August 29, the Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan has announced.

The new service will operate once a week on Saturdays using a Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, establishing a direct air connection between the capitals of Tajikistan and Belarus.

The new route is expected to strengthen air connectivity between the two countries, facilitate travel for passengers and support the development of economic, trade, tourism and humanitarian relations.

Tickets for the new service will be available through Somon Air’s official website.

The launch comes following the recent addition of another Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft to Somon Air’s fleet. The aircraft was acquired as part of ongoing efforts to modernize Tajikistan’s civil aviation sector and expand the airline’s international route network.

The Civil Aviation Agency said the government is implementing the State Program for the Development of Civil Aviation, together with its Open Skies policy, aimed at strengthening the country’s air transport capacity and expanding international connectivity.

According to the agency, the expansion of international air routes is expected to increase passenger traffic, promote tourism and cultural exchanges, strengthen economic relations and contribute to Tajikistan’s continued implementation of its open-door policy.

The Civil Aviation Agency also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding Tajikistan’s international flight network and strengthening cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), as well as aviation authorities in neighboring countries and states outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The new Dushanbe-Minsk route is expected to provide an additional avenue for closer people-to-people and economic ties between Tajikistan and Belarus while contributing to the broader development of Tajikistan’s international aviation network.
