Tajikistan, Qatar Discuss Expanding Cooperation on Human Rights

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan’s Human Rights Commissioner, Umed Bobozoda, held a meeting with Dr. Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee of the State of Qatar, on July 3 to review and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights.

According to the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, the meeting focused on the progress of cooperation between the two institutions and the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.

The two sides discussed measures to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance national mechanisms for the protection of human rights, and exchange expertise in handling citizens’ complaints. They also explored collaboration in public awareness initiatives, research, monitoring activities, and the organization of joint events, training programmes, and study visits.

The discussions further highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation within international organizations, including regional and global networks of national human rights institutions. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing productive cooperation and ensuring the effective implementation of jointly agreed initiatives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants expressed confidence that cooperation between Tajikistan and the State of Qatar in the field of human rights would continue to expand on the basis of mutual trust, constructive partnership, and broad collaboration, contributing to the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as strengthening international cooperation in the sector.
