Tajikistan Signs 17 Loan and Grant Agreements Worth US$386.9 Million to Advance Development Projects

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan has signed 17 loan and grant agreements worth a combined US$386.9 million this year to finance 14 public investment projects aimed at supporting the country’s socio-economic development, officials announced on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference, Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sulton Rahimzoda, said the agreements will fund strategic projects across several priority sectors, including transport, energy, tourism, education, healthcare, irrigation, and agriculture.
Rahimzoda noted that the newly signed financing agreements reflect the government’s continued cooperation with international development partners and its commitment to implementing projects that contribute to sustainable economic growth and improved public services.
He also revealed that Tajikistan is currently implementing 89 public investment projects, comprising 55 grant-funded projects, five loan-funded projects, and 29 projects financed through a combination of loans and grants.
The total value of these ongoing investment projects stands at 52.2 billion Tajik somoni (approximately US$5.63 billion), underscoring the scale of the country’s development agenda.
According to the committee, since the launch of these projects, US$3.37 billion, or 60 percent of the total planned financing, has been utilized for the procurement of goods, execution of construction works, and the delivery of related services.
During the January–June 2026 period alone, project implementation exceeded expectations, with disbursements reaching 4.5 billion Tajik somoni (US$491.8 million)—equivalent to 113 percent of the financial plan for the first half of the year.
The government emphasized that continued collaboration with international development partners remains essential for accelerating infrastructure development, enhancing public services, and achieving Tajikistan’s long-term economic and social development objectives.
