Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said held high-level talks in Astana, with the Kazakh leader emphasizing the vast potential for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Welcoming Sultan Haitham on his state visit, President Tokayev described the visit as a historic event, noting that it was the first-ever visit by a Sultan of Oman to Kazakhstan.

Tokayev said the visit opened a new chapter in multifaceted bilateral cooperation and called for efforts to intensify relations and elevate them to a new level.

“There is enormous potential for mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries that needs to be unlocked and fully realized,” President Tokayev said.

He also reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to becoming a reliable partner for Oman, highlighting the growing people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

According to Tokayev, the launch of additional direct commercial flights between Kazakhstan and Oman would further facilitate travel and strengthen contacts between the peoples of the two countries.

The Kazakh President also welcomed the signing of an important agreement concerning the Dunga oil field during the Sultan’s visit, describing it as further evidence of the two countries’ mutual interest and readiness to advance bilateral cooperation.

Sultan Haitham arrived in Astana on October 5 for a two-day state visit at the invitation of President Tokayev. The visit includes high-level talks, the signing of several important agreements and participation in the Kazakhstan-Oman Business Forum.
