Türkiye Launches Global Panel Series Advocating for Fairer Governance
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: The Directorate of Communications of Türkiye has embarked on an ambitious international panel series spanning 20 countries, aimed at fostering dialogue on global governance reform. The initiative, titled “A Fairer World Is Possible,” is part of the country’s Stratcom Public Forum programme and underscores Türkiye’s commitment to advocating for a more inclusive international system.
Following recent sessions in Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Germany, the panel series continued in Rome on Tuesday, with upcoming forums scheduled across key European capitals, including the United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium, and France throughout February.
In a video address, Fahrettin Altun, Head of Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications, reiterated President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s call for global governance reform. “President Erdogan’s statement that ‘the world is bigger than five’ represents a powerful call for rebuilding the international system on the foundation of justice,” Altun stated. The reference alludes to the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council—the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China—and highlights Türkiye’s longstanding advocacy for a more representative international order.
The initiative is a reflection of Türkiye’s increasing efforts to influence diplomatic discourse on UN reform and broader multilateral frameworks. Under President Erdogan’s leadership, the country has consistently pushed for restructuring international institutions to ensure greater inclusivity and fairness.
Altun emphasized that the panel discussions serve as a platform for engagement among governments, civil society organizations, media outlets, and think tanks. “We are not just highlighting problems but focusing on solutions,” he noted, adding that Türkiye “maintains a strong belief in the possibility of a fairer world through collective international efforts.”
The initiative comes at a critical juncture, as multilateral institutions face growing scrutiny over their effectiveness in addressing global challenges. By facilitating dialogue and advocating for reform, Türkiye aims to contribute meaningfully to shaping a more equitable global governance structure.
