Turkmen Parliamentary Delegation Meets with Top Chinese Legislator to Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: A high-level delegation of Turkmen parliamentarians, led by Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, held a significant meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of the People’s Republic of China, to bolster bilateral legislative cooperation and advance multilateral initiatives.
According to an official statement published on the website of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the talks were conducted in an expanded format, reflecting the growing depth of inter-parliamentary engagement between the two nations.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of mutual support for initiatives proposed by Turkmenistan and China within the framework of the United Nations. The discussions also highlighted the friendly and strategic ties fostered at the highest levels of leadership between the two countries.
Special focus was given to the practical outcomes of bilateral agreements reached during recent summits of the heads of state. In this context, the parliamentarians exchanged views on enhancing cooperation within the “Central Asia – China” parliamentary format, including the future convening of the Inter-Parliamentary Council “Central Asia – China” and the joint forum titled “Turkmenistan – China: Women and Youth.”
The Chinese delegation affirmed their readiness to deepen collaboration in key sectors such as science and education, healthcare, and agriculture—areas viewed as crucial for the socioeconomic development of both nations.
Chairperson Gulmanova praised the current state of inter-parliamentary relations between Turkmenistan and China, stating that the meetings and negotiations held during the visit would serve to further strengthen bilateral ties. She also extended an invitation for Chairman Zhao Leji to participate in the upcoming international events marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality.
The Turkmen parliamentary delegation’s visit to China underscores Ashgabat’s commitment to promoting its peaceful foreign policy and expanding parliamentary diplomacy in accordance with the country’s permanent neutrality status.
This visit marks a new chapter in Turkmen-Chinese legislative engagement, aligning with broader efforts to foster regional stability, sustainable development, and cultural exchange.
