Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has appointed Soyenchazar Nurnazarovich Selimov as governor of Avaza district in the city of Turkmenbashi, Balkan province, as well as Chairman of the Main Directorate for Management of the Avaza National Tourist Zone, according to Turkmen state media.

The appointment was made through a presidential decree. Dovlet Rozymyradovich Jumaev, who previously held the positions of governor of Avaza district and Chairman of the Main Directorate for Management of the Avaza National Tourist Zone, was relieved of his duties.

Located near Turkmenbashi on Turkmenistan’s Caspian Sea coast, the Avaza National Tourist Zone is one of the country’s major tourism and resort destinations. The zone includes modern hotels, health and recreational facilities, cottage complexes, sports infrastructure and other tourism-related amenities.

In recent years, Avaza has also developed into an important venue for international forums, meetings and other high-level events.

The appointment comes as the Avaza National Tourist Zone continues to serve both as a key tourism destination and as a platform for international events, contributing to Turkmenistan’s efforts to promote tourism and international cooperation.
