Azerbaijan, Romania Discuss Expanding Interregional and Parliamentary Cooperation

Bucharest, The Gulf Observer: A delegation led by Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankendi city and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, held a series of meetings with Romanian parliamentary officials to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding interregional and parliamentary cooperation.
As part of Yusubov’s official visit to Romania, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Senator Glad-Aurel Varga, Deputy Chairman of the ruling National Liberal Party in the Senate. The discussions focused on advancing bilateral relations, strengthening interregional cooperation and addressing issues of mutual interest.
Senator Varga highlighted the longstanding bonds of friendship and close partnership between Romania and Azerbaijan and expressed readiness to support efforts at the parliamentary level aimed at expanding economic and investment cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
Yusubov briefed the Romanian senator on the agreements reached during his visit to Romania’s Maramureș region. He also provided information on Azerbaijan’s large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects in the liberated Garabagh region, which are being financed entirely through national resources.
The Azerbaijani official highlighted ongoing infrastructure development and emerging opportunities for foreign investors in Garabagh and invited Senator Varga to visit Khankendi.
The Azerbaijani delegation also held talks at the Chamber of Deputies with Marian Neacşu, Deputy Chairman of the ruling Social Democratic Party and Co-Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Romania Interparliamentary Friendship Group, and MP Radu Oprea.
The meeting focused on strengthening interparliamentary cooperation and identifying joint measures to further develop relations between the two countries.
Yusubov invited Neacşu to visit Garabagh, while the Romanian official expressed his intention to visit Azerbaijan, particularly the Garabagh region, in the near future.
The meetings underscored the shared interest of Azerbaijan and Romania in deepening parliamentary dialogue, expanding interregional economic and investment ties and promoting practical cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
