UAE and Germany Discuss Regional Security and Maritime Stability During Berlin Meeting

Berlin, The Gulf Observer: Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul during a working visit to Berlin to discuss regional developments and bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed recent developments in the region and discussed what the UAE described as unprovoked terrorist attacks launched by Iran against civilian sites and facilities in the UAE using missiles and drones.

The discussions also addressed the broader implications of the attacks on international maritime security, global energy supply chains and the stability of the world economy. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening international efforts to safeguard maritime corridors and ensure the uninterrupted flow of global trade.

The meeting further covered a drone attack that caused a fire in an electricity generator located outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region. According to the UAE, the incident caused no injuries and had no impact on radiation safety levels.

Wadephul reaffirmed Germany’s solidarity with the UAE and condemned the attacks, while Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation for Germany’s supportive position and affirmed the safety and security of residents and visitors across the UAE.

Sheikh Abdullah also highlighted the strong strategic partnership between the UAE and Germany, emphasizing the shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in ways that support the interests and prosperity of both nations.

The meeting was attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri and Ahmed Wahib Al Attar.
