UAE, Canada Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties, Welcome Conclusion of CEPA Negotiations
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a telephone conversation with Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, to discuss bilateral relations and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation in support of the shared interests of both countries.
During the call, Sheikh Abdullah congratulated Minister Anand on the successful conclusion of negotiations and the finalisation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the United Arab Emirates and Canada. He described the milestone as a reflection of the strong bilateral relationship and the mutual commitment of both nations to expand cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, investment and economic development.
Sheikh Abdullah said the agreement represents a strategic step toward deepening the economic partnership between the UAE and Canada. He noted that the completion of the negotiations in record time underscores the determination of both friendly countries to enhance bilateral collaboration in line with their development priorities while promoting greater prosperity for their peoples.
The two ministers also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest. They exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East and discussed ways to reinforce regional and international efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability across the region.
