UAE, Lebanon Launch ‘One Million Lebanese AI Experts’ Initiative in New York
New York, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, met with Dr. Nawaf Salam, Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The meeting reviewed the fraternal relations between the UAE and Lebanon and explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors in support of shared interests and the prosperity of both peoples.
The two sides also discussed several issues on the agenda of the UN General Assembly and exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest.
Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Lebanon and supporting efforts aimed at achieving lasting security and stability in the country, as well as advancing the aspirations of the Lebanese people for development and prosperity.
During the meeting, the UAE and Lebanon announced the launch of the “One Million Lebanese AI Experts” initiative under the Government Experience Exchange Programme (GEEP), in cooperation with the Lebanese government.
The initiative reflects the depth of bilateral cooperation and aims to expand the exchange of expertise and knowledge in government and technology while strengthening digital capabilities among Lebanese citizens.
The programme seeks to equip one million Lebanese people with fundamental and practical skills in generative artificial intelligence and prompt engineering, including the ability to formulate effective instructions and guide AI tools to produce accurate and useful results.
Prompt engineering is regarded as an important skill for enabling individuals and organisations to interact effectively with AI applications and use them to improve work processes and government services.
The initiative will also enhance participants’ ability to use AI tools to complete tasks, increase productivity and develop innovative ideas and solutions to various challenges.
It forms part of the GEEP’s efforts to share UAE expertise and experience and establish practical partnerships that contribute to strengthening institutional and human capabilities in partner governments.
The inclusive programme will target various segments of Lebanese society, providing people of different ages, backgrounds and professional roles with opportunities to acquire practical skills in artificial intelligence and prompt engineering.
The initiative is intended to broaden access to digital skills, enhance society’s readiness for digital transformation and encourage the use of AI as a tool for development and innovation.
The launch underscores the UAE and Lebanon’s commitment to strengthening knowledge cooperation, investing in future-oriented skills and expanding opportunities to harness advanced technologies in support of Lebanese society and government development.
The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State; Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, Minister of State; and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister of State.
