VASEA Plays Crucial Role in Strengthening Vietnam-Australia Relations

Canberra, The Gulf Observer: The Vietnamese Australian Scholars and Experts Association (VASEA) has significantly contributed to the development of human resources and collaborative projects between Vietnam and Australia, Vietnamese Deputy Ambassador to Australia Nghiêm Xuân Hòa stated during the association’s first annual congress on June 2.

Since its inception in August 2023, VASEA has established itself as a pivotal platform for Vietnamese-origin scholars and specialists to exchange knowledge, expertise, and experiences, fostering growth in both countries and enhancing bilateral relations.

The association has organized various activities, including conferences and short courses focusing on critical areas such as digital transformation, energy efficiency, carbon markets, climate change, leadership skills for sustainable development, the digital economy, and energy transition.

In an online address, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski emphasized the importance of the Việt Nam – Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, highlighting that it should be supported not only by government entities but also by the private sector, universities, and organizations like VASEA. He praised VASEA’s initiatives supporting Vietnam’s transition to green energy and encouraged the association to further connect Vietnam and Australia for mutual prosperity and success.

From Hanoi, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyễn Mạnh Đông affirmed that VASEA’s practical activities have reinforced cooperation between the two nations. He underscored the significance of contributions by overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and businessmen in advancing science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and green transition.

Professor Nghiêm Đức Long, VASEA President, announced plans for monthly conferences and programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge and leadership abilities of young members. He highlighted that VASEA will prioritize projects in key areas agreed upon by both nations, focusing on science exchange, technology transfer, and training. These initiatives will support the development of a circular economy and climate change response in the Mekong Delta.

VASEA’s ongoing efforts are poised to further strengthen Vietnam-Australia relations, contributing to the comprehensive strategic partnership and fostering sustainable development in both countries.
