Vietnam, Mongolia Reaffirm Strong Ties as Ambassador Concludes Tenure
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The State and people of Mongolia attach great importance to their relationship with Vietnam, Mongolia’s first comprehensive partner in Southeast Asia, outgoing Ambassador Jigjee Sereejav said during a meeting with Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm in Hanoi.
At the reception, both sides expressed satisfaction with the substantive and effective development of bilateral relations over the past four years, coinciding with Ambassador Sereejav’s tenure, which began in December 2021.
A major milestone in bilateral ties was the establishment of a comprehensive partnership in 2024. Since then, cooperation between the two nations has expanded across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, defence, security, justice, culture, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Commending the ambassador’s contributions, President Tô Lâm reaffirmed that Vietnam consistently values its relationship with Mongolia. He emphasized the importance of enhancing high-level exchanges and maintaining regular dialogue at all levels to strengthen political trust.
The Vietnamese leader also called for greater economic, trade, and investment cooperation aligned with the potential of the comprehensive partnership. He highlighted the need to promote people-to-people and locality-to-locality exchanges, as well as to effectively utilize the bilateral visa exemption agreement signed in 2023.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of raising public awareness of the longstanding friendship between the two countries, particularly among younger generations.
For his part, Ambassador Sereejav congratulated Vietnam on its recent socio-economic achievements and expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese leadership, ministries, and local authorities for their support during his tenure.
He voiced confidence that under the leadership of President Tô Lâm, Vietnam will continue its strong development trajectory while enhancing its global standing.
Affirming his alignment with the Vietnamese leader’s vision, the ambassador expressed optimism that the Vietnam–Mongolia comprehensive partnership will continue to grow in a substantive and effective manner, serving the shared interests of both nations and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and development.
Sereejav also pledged to remain engaged in promoting bilateral ties even after completing his diplomatic mission.
