Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka lauded the National Alms Agency (Baznas) for its significant role in addressing poverty and stunting in Indonesia. In a statement released on Friday, VP Gibran emphasized Baznas’ impactful programs, which extend support to both urban beneficiaries and those in outermost, foremost, and disadvantaged (3T) areas.

“Baznas’ initiatives are pivotal in supporting the government’s efforts to eradicate extreme poverty and address stunting. I urge all elements to collaborate in ensuring the success of these programs, including the Free Nutritious Meals initiative,” VP Gibran remarked.

Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad highlighted the agency’s recent successes, reporting an annual growth of 30 percent in alms (zakat), infaq, and donations. This growth is attributed to flagship programs such as the Baznas Health Center (RSB), Baznas Microfinance, Kampung Zakat (Alms Village), Santripreneur, Baznas Scholarship, Z-Chicken, and Z-Mart, alongside initiatives like providing livable housing and disaster response through Baznas Disaster Response (BTB).

Achmad praised VP Gibran’s longstanding commitment to alms and community welfare, noting his achievements as Mayor of Surakarta, where alms collection rose significantly from Rp4 billion to Rp12 billion during his tenure.

Expressing optimism for the future, Achmad stated, “With support from the government, community, and private sector, we are confident in achieving our poverty alleviation targets and expanding Baznas’ reach under Prabowo Subianto’s administration.”

Baznas’ efforts continue to reinforce its role as a critical partner in advancing national welfare and sustainable development.
