Mataram, The Gulf Observer: The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Museum has dispatched eight cultural items for the 2025 Islamic Arts Biennale, set to take place at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

On Thursday, Ahmad Nuralam, Head of the NTB Museum, confirmed that the selected items include a traditional keris (Indonesian dagger), a cipo’ cila (veil worn by women from Sumbawa Island), the Tajul Muluk geomancy book, and various traditional utensils used by the NTB tribes of Sasak, Samawa, and Mbojo for preparing and consuming betel leaves.

“These ethnographic items from NTB will be showcased to highlight the region’s cultural heritage and tourism potential,” Nuralam stated. The eight selected items are scheduled to depart Indonesia on January 7 and will arrive in Jeddah the following day, after completing customs, immigration, and administrative procedures.

In addition to the NTB Museum, Indonesia will also be represented by the Sonobudoyo Museum of Yogyakarta and the National Library at the exhibition.

The Islamic Arts Biennale, organized by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation and sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will be held from January 25 to May 25. The theme of the event, “The Art of Number,” aims to showcase the diversity and richness of Islamic cultures and arts through displays of significant items from around the world.
