Indonesia and Australia Agree to Strengthen Strategic Cooperation in Agriculture, Education and Health
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have committed to deepening strategic cooperation between their nations, particularly in the agriculture, education, and health sectors. The agreement was reached during a courtesy meeting between the leaders in Lima, Peru, on Thursday, where President Prabowo is currently attending the 2024 APEC Summit.
A statement from Prabowo’s office highlighted Indonesia’s intention to elevate collaboration with Australia, a key partner and regional ally. “In Indonesia’s view, Australia is a good friend. We are keen to bolster cooperation in various fields and look forward to witnessing Australia intensifying its participation in Indonesia’s economy,” Prabowo remarked.
The meeting allowed both leaders to explore avenues to strengthen the longstanding Indonesia-Australia partnership. Prabowo praised the solid foundation of diplomatic relations between the two countries and affirmed his commitment to enhancing ties further. “In general, I believe that we have been successful in maintaining our relations. I am determined to step up relations with all of our neighboring countries,” he stated.
Prime Minister Albanese acknowledged Indonesia’s strategic diplomacy during recent state visits to both China and the United States, lauding Prabowo’s balanced approach. He expressed optimism that Indonesia and Australia would achieve new milestones in cooperation, particularly in the critical sectors of agriculture, education, and health.
Prabowo’s visit to Peru marks his third international engagement as president, providing a platform for discussions with global leaders on expanding Indonesia’s partnerships in various domains.
