Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Alley of Honors on December 12 to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the passing of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect of modern and independent Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the grave of Heydar Aliyev, whose visionary leadership and enduring legacy continue to shape Azerbaijan’s development and global standing. The solemn ceremony was accompanied by the playing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, paying tribute to the nation’s revered leader.

Following this, President Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva honored the memory of Zarifa Aliyeva, an outstanding ophthalmologist and academician, by placing flowers at her grave.

The First Family also paid their respects to other notable figures of Azerbaijani history, placing flowers at the graves of Aziz Aliyev, a prominent statesman, and Tamerlan Aliyev, a distinguished professor.

The visit underscored the nation’s deep reverence for Heydar Aliyev and his profound contributions to Azerbaijan’s independence, progress, and prosperity.
