Xi Jinping Calls for Enhanced China-Vietnam Cooperation and Connectivity

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: In a phone conversation on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged China and Vietnam to deepen their cooperation and connectivity, highlighting the need to jointly build a frontier platform for new productive forces and create stable cross-border industrial and supply chains.

Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made these remarks during a call with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, To Lam, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties.

President Xi expressed his satisfaction over the progress made since To Lam’s state visit to China in August, noting that both countries have made positive strides in implementing the agreements reached during their talks. The cooperation has covered a wide range of areas, aimed at strengthening the ties between the two parties and nations.

Looking ahead to 2025, which will conclude China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and coincide with the preparation for the CPV’s 14th National Congress, Xi emphasized the importance of this year for both countries. He stressed the need to continue rejuvenating the two parties, deepening exchanges on socialist theory, and promoting the socialist cause amid significant global changes.

Xi also underscored the importance of high-level exchanges between the two countries to provide political guidance and push for more results in mutually beneficial cooperation. He advocated for expanding people-to-people exchanges, particularly in media, culture, tourism, and youth cooperation, to foster stronger ties between the peoples of both nations.

In his remarks, Xi also emphasized the importance of enhancing international and regional coordination to safeguard global fairness and justice, while jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind.

General Secretary To Lam, for his part, expressed condolences over the recent earthquake in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region and expressed confidence that China would overcome the challenges posed by the disaster under President Xi’s leadership. He praised the remarkable development achievements made by China under the CPC and expressed admiration for China’s advancements in economic scale and the development of new productive forces.

To Lam reiterated Vietnam’s support for China’s three major global initiatives and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation within this framework. He also highlighted Vietnam’s commitment to learning from China’s development experience, particularly in applying Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

The two leaders jointly announced the official launch of the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges and exchanged New Year greetings, wishing prosperity and well-being to the peoples of both countries.

The phone call marked a significant milestone in the continued development of China-Vietnam relations, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to cooperation, peace, and shared prosperity.
