Moldova Azerbaijanis Congress Condemns Yekaterinburg Atrocities, Demands Accountability

Chisinau, The Gulf Observer: The Moldova Azerbaijanis Congress has issued a strong condemnation of the recent acts of violence committed against Azerbaijani nationals in Yekaterinburg, Russia. In an official statement, Elchin Bayramov, Chairman of the Congress, described the incidents as “atrocities” and a “gross violation of international law and human rights.”
“The events in Yekaterinburg contradict Russia’s Constitution and legislation,” Bayramov asserted, “and the actions of law enforcement officials appear to have been part of a planned, targeted operation.” He emphasized that the brutal killing of five Azerbaijani citizens and the wounding of several others must not go unpunished. “The perpetrators of the violence and torture must be immediately held accountable. Otherwise, it will confirm that the Russian state is complicit in these actions,” he added.
Bayramov further stated that such acts will not deter the Azerbaijani nation. “We reiterate that attempts to threaten the independent and powerful Azerbaijani state with such feeble tactics have zero chance of success. The Azerbaijani state is fully capable of protecting the rights of our compatriots worldwide,” he said, stressing that Azerbaijanis across the globe remain united and determined in the face of injustice.
Concluding his remarks, Bayramov extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured.
The statement comes amid growing concerns from Azerbaijani communities and human rights organizations regarding the treatment of ethnic Azerbaijanis in parts of Russia.
