President Pezeshkian Inaugurates New Gas Unit at Neka Power Plant

Sari, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian inaugurated a new gas unit at the Neka Power Plant in Mazandaran Province via video conference on Monday. The inauguration ceremony was attended in person by Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi.
The newly launched gas unit, with a generation capacity of 183 megawatts, was completed in under five months — a record-setting achievement in the field of national development projects.
This gas unit is part of a broader expansion initiative at the Neka Power Plant, which also includes the future addition of a second gas unit with an identical capacity of 183 megawatts, as well as a steam unit capable of producing 180 megawatts.
Designed to bolster the region’s energy supply, the new unit is expected to provide electricity to approximately 100,000 households while also meeting the energy demands of Mazandaran’s growing industrial sector. In addition, the project has created 200 direct jobs and around 1,000 indirect employment opportunities.
The development is a key step in Iran’s strategy to enhance domestic power infrastructure and ensure sustainable energy delivery across the country.
