Turkish, Ukrainian Foreign Ministers Discuss Peace Efforts Amid US-Russia Talks

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation on Saturday with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha to discuss ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.

The ministers exchanged views on the Alaska summit held on Friday between the presidents of the United States and Russia, which was part of international efforts to advance a resolution to the conflict.

Fidan stressed that any lasting peace must be achieved through a process that fully includes Ukraine, underscoring the importance of the upcoming meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC, scheduled for August 18.

The Turkish foreign minister reaffirmed that Türkiye will continue to support diplomatic efforts towards peace and expressed readiness for Ankara to play an active role in facilitating dialogue.
