Azerbaijan, Türkiye Discuss Strategic Partnership, Energy and Regional Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan in Baku on September 15, with the two sides discussing bilateral relations, energy cooperation, connectivity and regional developments.

Hakan Fidan conveyed greetings from President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to President Aliyev. The Azerbaijani President expressed his appreciation and asked Fidan to convey his greetings and regards to President Erdoğan.

During the meeting, the sides noted the successful development of relations and the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye across various fields. They expressed satisfaction with the continued expansion of cooperation based on the principle of “one nation, two states.”

Particular attention was given to energy cooperation, with the sides exchanging views on the development of new routes to alternative international energy markets.

The parties also highlighted the logistical importance of Azerbaijan and Türkiye and their strategic role as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia. They stressed the importance of coordinating their activities within international organizations.

The meeting also featured an exchange of views on the prospects for further development of bilateral relations, regional issues and other matters of mutual interest.
