Iran and China Reaffirm Commitment to 25-Year Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement

Iran and China

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The presidents of Iran and China have reaffirmed their pledge to fully implement the 25-year comprehensive cooperation agreement, underscoring their determination to expand strategic ties despite mounting pressure from the United States.

During talks held in Beijing on Tuesday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian voiced strong support for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s global governance initiative and emphasized Tehran’s readiness to work with Beijing under all circumstances to elevate relations to their “maximum level.”

President Pezeshkian described Iran as a “strong and determined” partner for China and highlighted opportunities for joint projects, particularly in the fields of high-speed railways and highway construction. He also criticized U.S. unilateral policies and interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

For his part, President Xi Jinping affirmed China’s commitment to advancing bilateral relations with Iran through a “future-oriented outlook.” He called for accelerated implementation of agreements reached in earlier meetings, including those discussed in Kazan, and stressed the importance of closer coordination within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to jointly counter unilateralism.

Xi described Iran as a “strategic partner” and reiterated China’s recognition of Iran’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. He further underlined Beijing’s readiness to deepen “win-win cooperation” in key sectors, including transportation and infrastructure, notwithstanding the impact of Western sanctions.

Both leaders emphasized that the use of force cannot resolve international disputes. Xi also condemned any Israeli or U.S. military actions against Iran as violations of international law, reaffirming Beijing’s stance in support of Iran’s sovereignty and regional stability.
