Araghchi Condemns European Moves on Nuclear Issue as Illegal and Irresponsible

Araghchi

New York, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has sharply criticized the actions of three European countries concerning the Iranian nuclear issue, describing their insistence on reinstating repealed UN Security Council resolutions as “unjustified, illegal, and irresponsible.”

Araghchi made these remarks during a meeting with his British counterpart, Yvette Cooper, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that the positions taken by the three European states, in coordination with the United States, were aimed at denying the Iranian people their legitimate rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He argued that such policies have persisted over the past decade without any rational basis.

Araghchi further underlined that this approach ultimately led to what he termed as the “illegal attack” by the United States and Israel on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, while the three European countries remained “complacently silent” in the face of such actions.
