Sharm El-Sheikh: Oman Participates in Landmark Peace Summit

Sharm El-Sheikh

Sharm El-Sheikh, The Gulf Observer: At the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, led the Omani delegation at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. The summit, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt in Sharm El-Sheikh, brought together numerous world leaders and representatives of regional and international organizations to deliberate on efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and advance the path toward a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

During the proceedings, the mediating nations—the United States of America, Egypt, Türkiye, and Qatar—signed the “Peace Document” in the presence of assembled leaders and delegation heads. This step underscores the strengthening international consensus in favor of a political settlement and de-escalation.

In a formal statement, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi expressed Oman’s appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt and former U.S. President Donald Trump for their leadership in convening this historic summit. He noted that the past two years have witnessed horrific human tragedies and affirmed that the ceasefire has preserved hundreds of lives while restoring hope to thousands of Palestinian families.

Highlighting the significance of the moment, the Foreign Minister emphasized that it presents a genuine opportunity to initiate a serious process toward securing comprehensive and lasting justice for the region. While acknowledging that the path ahead remains long and challenging, he stressed that sincere cooperation and collective action substantially enhance the prospects for a future founded on lasting peace and shared prosperity.

Sayyid Badr reaffirmed that the Sultanate of Oman will continue to serve as a steadfast advocate for peace and an active contributor to initiatives promoting mutual understanding, coexistence, and the rule of law. Oman’s engagement in the summit reflects its enduring policy of championing dialogue and peaceful mechanisms for conflict resolution, as well as its commitment to supporting international and regional efforts to establish security, stability, and a just and enduring peace in the region and worldwide.
