Gyeongju, The Gulf Observer: President Lương Cường held a meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of China Xi Jinping on Friday, on the sidelines of the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju.

During the meeting, President Cường congratulated China on the successful organisation of the Fourth Plenum of the 20th CPC Central Committee and commended the country’s significant achievements under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core. He conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Tô Lâm and other key Vietnamese leaders to Party General Secretary and President Xi and the Chinese leadership.

For his part, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping extended warm regards to General Secretary Tô Lâm and other senior leaders of Việt Nam, expressing his confidence that Việt Nam will successfully organise its 14th National Party Congress.

Both sides highly valued the positive progress in relations between the two Parties and the two countries in recent years. They agreed to further enhance exchanges and contacts at all levels—particularly high-level interactions—consolidate political trust, deepen substantive cooperation, and promote people-to-people exchanges, thereby contributing to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of Việt Nam–China relations.

President Cường reaffirmed that the Party and State of Việt Nam consistently regard the development of ties with China as an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top priority in the country’s foreign policy. He proposed that both sides effectively implement upcoming high-level visits, strengthen theoretical exchanges between the two Parties, and expand mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors.

Agreeing with the Vietnamese leader’s proposals, General Secretary and President Xi emphasized that China attaches great importance to its relationship with Việt Nam. He called for further deepening of Party-to-Party ties and the promotion of the bilateral theory conference mechanism. Xi also reiterated China’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Việt Nam in all areas.

The two leaders also exchanged views on issues at sea as well as on regional and international matters of shared concern. They agreed to continue managing and addressing differences appropriately to jointly maintain peace, stability, and development in the region.
