Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: In commemoration of the 1000th anniversary of the writing of The Canon of Medicine (El Kanun Fi’t-Tıb) by Ibn Sina (Avicenna), Avicenna House London convened the 2026 International Year of Longevity activities at the Sofitel Conference Hall in Kuala Lumpur.

During the sessions, global leaders, scholars, and representatives from across the public sector, academia, private industry, civil society, media, and opinion leadership gathered to outline a collaborative vision for advancing healthy longevity worldwide.

The World Longevity Forum (WLF) and the Asia Longevity Council (ALC) jointly resolved to organize the Asia Longevity Summit across Asian countries with broad multi-stakeholder participation. The meeting further agreed to launch the “Longevity for Humanity Initiative” and to establish Avicenna Longevity Cities on every continent as hubs for research, innovation, and best-practice implementation.

As part of the global roadmap, these initiatives will be presented to the international community at the upcoming World Health Congress in the Philippines. Additionally, it was confirmed that the World Longevity Forum and the World Healthy Ageing Congress will be held in Antalya, Türkiye, in December 2026. Thereafter, the World Healthy Ageing Congress will be hosted annually on a rotating basis across different continents.

These efforts are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the World Health Organization’s Decade of Healthy Ageing, and the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (2002). The initiatives include a commitment to promote best practices globally and to conduct structured five-year monitoring and evaluation cycles at local, regional, and continental levels.

Avicenna House London extends its gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their dedication to advancing longevity, public health, and human well-being.
