Air Europa Launches Madrid–Tangier Route in Major Summer Expansion

Air Europa

Agadir, The Gulf Observer: Air Europa is strengthening its Mediterranean and North Africa network this summer with the launch of a new direct route connecting Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport and Tangier.

The new service is scheduled to commence on June 16, initially operating three times per week. Frequencies will gradually increase to five weekly flights in August to accommodate peak travel demand before concluding operations in mid-September.

This marks Air Europa’s first direct connection to Tangier, offering travelers a convenient and efficient option to reach the northern Moroccan city during the busy summer tourist season.

Broader Mediterranean Expansion

The Tangier route forms part of the airline’s broader seasonal expansion strategy, which also includes the launch of a new service to Bologna. The Bologna route will operate during July and August with three weekly flights, further strengthening the carrier’s European summer offering.

In addition, Air Europa is resuming several previously operated seasonal routes to meet rising travel demand. These include services to Marrakech and Tunis in North Africa, as well as Athens and Alghero in Southern Europe.

According to the airline, the summer expansion will add nearly 130,000 additional seats and more than 700 round-trip flights across its network during the peak travel period.

Continued Growth in Morocco

Beyond Tangier, Air Europa is maintaining and expanding its presence in Morocco. The Madrid–Marrakech route resumed operations on April 6, 2025, with two weekly flights operating between the Spanish capital and Marrakech through the end of October.

The latest expansion highlights Air Europa’s commitment to strengthening connectivity between Spain, North Africa, and key Mediterranean destinations, positioning the airline to capture growing leisure travel demand during the summer season.
