Pakistan Reaffirms Peace Diplomacy in PM Shehbaz–President Pezeshkian Call Amid Regional Tensions

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region during a telephonic conversation with Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday.
During the detailed discussion, which lasted over an hour, the two leaders exchanged views on the ongoing hostilities in the region and explored avenues for advancing peace efforts.
The Prime Minister strongly condemned the continued attacks by Israel on Iran, including recent strikes on civilian infrastructure, and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Iran during the ongoing crisis.
Expressing deep sorrow over the human toll, he extended condolences on the loss of more than 1,900 lives and offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured and displaced.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also briefed the Iranian President on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach, highlighting engagements led by himself, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Syed Asim Munir with the United States and brotherly Gulf and Islamic countries aimed at creating a conducive environment for peace negotiations.
He noted that Pakistan’s peace initiative has received strong support from international partners and expressed optimism that a collective pathway toward ending hostilities could be achieved.
President Masoud Pezeshkian, while appreciating Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts, shared Iran’s perspective on the situation and emphasized the importance of building trust to facilitate dialogue and mediation. He commended Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting regional peace initiatives.
The Prime Minister thanked the Iranian President for his acknowledgment and reiterated that Pakistan would continue its proactive and constructive engagement to help restore peace and stability in the region.
