TURKPA Commemorates Victims of 1918 Atrocities on Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The International Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) has issued an official statement marking March 31 – the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis, honoring the victims of the mass killings committed in 1918.
In its statement, the Secretariat solemnly commemorated those who lost their lives during the tragic events, describing them as among the most grievous crimes in the historical memory of the Azerbaijani people.
“The International Secretariat of TURKPA commemorates the victims of the mass killings perpetrated against the Azerbaijani people in 1918 on the Day of the Azerbaijani Genocide, 31 March,” the statement read.
It emphasized that the atrocities, carried out across various regions of Azerbaijan under the pretext of ethnic cleansing, resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians and inflicted deep and lasting damage on the nation’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Marking the 108th anniversary of the events, the Secretariat strongly condemned the violence and expressed profound sorrow, paying tribute to the memory of the victims with utmost respect.
The statement reaffirmed the importance of remembrance and solidarity in honoring those who perished, while underscoring the need to preserve historical truth for future generations.
