His Majesty the Sultan Visits Petroleum Development Oman to Review Energy Sector Developments

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Haitham bin Tarik visited the headquarters of Petroleum Development Oman in Muscat this morning to review key projects and ongoing developments in the Sultanate’s energy sector.
Upon His Majesty’s arrival at the company’s headquarters, he was received by Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals; Mohsin bin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and Chairman of the PDO Board of Directors; and Dr. Aflah bin Said Al Hadhrami, Managing Director of PDO. The Managing Director later delivered a welcoming address on the occasion of the Royal visit.
During the visit, His Majesty was presented with a visual briefing outlining the company’s development milestones, achievements in the oil and gas sector, efforts to enhance operational efficiency, and future plans driven by modern technologies. The presentation also highlighted PDO’s initiatives aimed at strengthening workplace performance and advancing long-term strategic objectives.
His Majesty subsequently unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the official inauguration of the Integrated Operations Centre, “Bayt Al Haitham.” The centre serves as the energy sector’s primary command and control hub in the Sultanate of Oman, enabling real-time monitoring of oil and gas operations under a unified digital system. It is regarded as a pioneering national and global project, reflecting the vision of Oman’s Renewed Renaissance and contributing to the sustainability of the national economy.
The visit also included a tour of a wall exhibition showcasing PDO’s historical milestones, institutional transformation, production growth, strategic outlook, and initiatives in sustainability, digital transformation, and national workforce development.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Majesty graciously signed the visitors’ book, expressing his pleasure on the occasion and praying for continued success and progress for all those working in the energy sector. A commemorative group photograph was also taken with PDO employees in remembrance of the royal visit.
His Majesty was accompanied by His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs; Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority; and Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
