Moninder Singh Bual Highlights Azerbaijan’s Role as Emerging Global South Dialogue Hub

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Moninder Singh Bual, Chairman of Sikh Federation Canada, has highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing role as a platform for international dialogue among Global South communities, particularly those engaged in discussions around cultural identity and decolonization.
Speaking on recent developments, Bual said efforts are underway to strengthen cultural and heritage connections while leveraging platforms being offered in Azerbaijan. He noted that the capital city, Baku, has increasingly become a focal point for international engagement in recent years.
He stated that various groups from Africa and other regions have been participating in discussions in Baku, particularly those addressing colonial legacies and related socio-political challenges.
“This has become a hub of activity in Baku… countries and people from Africa working on decolonization are arriving here to talk about their issues,” Bual remarked.
According to Bual, these interactions are part of broader efforts to create dialogue platforms connecting communities with shared historical and cultural concerns, including those still dealing with the effects of colonial rule involving countries such as France and Netherlands.
The remarks underline Azerbaijan’s positioning as an emerging venue for international conferences and discussions involving Global South perspectives, though such developments continue to attract varied interpretations in global diplomatic circles.
