FUUAST Hosts Conference on Russian History and Language to Mark Russian Language Day

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad, hosted a poster conference titled “From Peter the Great to Vladimir Putin” on June 4 to commemorate Russian Language Day, bringing together students, faculty members, and representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission in Pakistan.

The event was attended by faculty and students from the Department of International Relations, including department head Dr. Faisal Javaid, as well as Gleb Shubin.

During the conference, students presented research findings on key periods in Russian history, examining the evolution of the Russian state from its early foundations to the modern era. The presentations reflected strong academic interest in Russia’s development as a multinational nation with a history spanning more than a millennium.

Addressing participants, Cultural Attaché Gleb Shubin delivered a presentation on the development of the modern Russian language. He highlighted major milestones in its evolution and emphasized the lasting influence of renowned Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, widely regarded as a foundational figure in Russian literature and often referred to as the “sun of Russian poetry.”

The diplomat also outlined educational opportunities available to Pakistani students wishing to pursue higher education in Russia, providing information on academic programs and avenues for international study.

The conference served as a platform for cultural and academic exchange, promoting greater understanding of Russian history, language, and educational opportunities among Pakistani students.
