Turkmen President Extends Condolences to Philippines After Deadly Mindanao Earthquake

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has conveyed a message of condolence to Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. following the devastating earthquake off the coast of Mindanao Island that claimed dozens of lives and left hundreds injured, according to Turkmenistan’s Watan news program.

On behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan, as well as personally, President Berdimuhamedov expressed his deepest sympathies and support to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives in the disaster. He also wished a swift recovery to those injured in the earthquake.

The message came after a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao Island in southern Philippines early Monday morning, causing significant loss of life and widespread damage.

According to preliminary figures released by the Philippine Civil Defense Service, at least 37 people have been killed, 456 injured, and four remain missing as a result of the earthquake. Rescue and recovery operations are continuing in the affected areas as authorities work to assess the full extent of the devastation.

Official Philippine media reported that emergency response teams remain engaged in search-and-rescue efforts, while damage assessments are ongoing.

President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s solidarity with the people of the Philippines during this difficult time, expressing hope for the speedy recovery of the injured and strength for those affected by the tragedy.
