Azerbaijan, Jordan Reaffirm Commitment to Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday received Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al Safadi, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
During the meeting, Al Safadi conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan and delivered the monarch’s invitation for President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Jordan. He noted that King Abdullah highly values his personal relationship with the Azerbaijani president.
President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked the Jordanian foreign minister to convey his best wishes to King Abdullah II. He also extended an invitation to the Jordanian monarch to visit Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani president warmly recalled his previous meetings with King Abdullah II in Azerbaijan, Jordan and on the sidelines of various international events, highlighting the close and friendly relations between the two leaders.
During the talks, both sides underscored that reciprocal high-level visits and regular contacts have played a vital role in advancing relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan, emphasizing that bilateral ties are founded on the principles of friendship and brotherhood.
The discussions focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation in political, economic, energy, investment, connectivity, humanitarian and other priority sectors. The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments, future high-level contacts, expanding the activities of the Azerbaijan-Jordan Intergovernmental Commission, and enhancing interparliamentary cooperation.
The meeting also addressed prospects for closer cooperation in tourism, including discussions on launching direct scheduled flights between Azerbaijan and Jordan to facilitate people-to-people exchanges and strengthen bilateral connectivity.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further expanding the strategic partnership and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two friendly countries.
