President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Receives Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Sunday received Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd, who is visiting Ashgabat to advance bilateral cooperation and strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two neighboring countries.

At the outset of the meeting, Minister Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as reaffirmed Iran’s strong commitment to further enhancing friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan. She also extended warm regards from the Iranian leadership to the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Iranian minister highlighted the significance of the recent visit of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Iran, noting that his meetings with President Masoud Pezeshkian and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had opened new opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the Iranian leadership for their warm greetings and asked Minister Malvajerd to convey his best wishes to President Pezeshkian. He expressed confidence that the minister’s meetings with Turkmen officials during her visit would further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the discussions, President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed that Turkmenistan, guided by its internationally recognized policy of permanent neutrality, continues to pursue constructive cooperation with neighboring countries and the wider international community. He underscored that Turkmen-Iranian relations are built on centuries-old historical, cultural, and good-neighborly ties, as well as the principles of mutual respect, trust, and understanding.

Both sides emphasized that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran continues to expand both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations, where the two countries regularly support initiatives aimed at promoting regional stability and sustainable development.

Trade and economic cooperation featured prominently in the talks, with the two sides highlighting the important role of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in identifying new opportunities for partnership and implementing agreements reached at the highest political level.

The meeting also underscored the importance of enhancing collaboration in infrastructure, transport, and regional connectivity, areas that remain central to the growing economic partnership between the two neighboring states.

Concluding the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Minister Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd expressed confidence that Turkmen-Iranian relations would continue to develop dynamically, contributing to the prosperity and well-being of the friendly peoples of both countries. The two sides exchanged best wishes and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding constructive bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
