Moscow

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việtnam (CPV) Central Committee and President Tô Lâm met with Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) Gennady Zyuganov in Moscow on Monday during his state visit to Russia.

During the meeting, Tô Lâm affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people remain deeply grateful for the invaluable assistance provided by the Communist Party, Government and people of the former Soviet Union, as well as present-day Russia, to Việtnam’s struggle for national liberation and reunification and its subsequent efforts in national construction and defence.

He said his visit reflected the enduring friendship and strategic trust between Việtnam and Russia, while building on the achievements of previous generations and opening a new chapter in efforts to develop bilateral relations in a more comprehensive, profound and substantive manner.

Tô Lâm congratulated Russia on its achievements in recent years, attributing them to the leadership of President Vladimir Putin, the solidarity of the Russian people and political forces, and the contributions of the KPRF to national policymaking.

He noted that the KPRF remains an influential political force with a long history and established prestige, making positive contributions to policymaking aimed at advancing Russia’s development and addressing the challenges facing the country.

Referring to Việt Nam’s development agenda following the 14th National Congress of the CPV, Tô Lâm said the Party had adopted a series of important resolutions to promote national development. He expressed hope that the KPRF and other Russian political parties would continue supporting and working closely with the CPV to raise Party-to-Party and State-to-State relations to a new level of greater substance and effectiveness.

Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing and unpredictable international environment, he called for stronger solidarity, cooperation and mutual support in pursuit of national development objectives, as well as peace, security, stability and progress.

To further strengthen cooperation between the two parties at both bilateral and multilateral levels, Tô Lâm proposed effective implementation of the agreement on expanding and deepening inter-Party relations. He particularly called for increased high-level delegation exchanges and timely sharing of information on the two parties’ major activities.

He also invited Zyuganov to lead a KPRF delegation on a visit to Việtnam at a suitable time.

Highlighting the importance of continued exchanges of experience between the strategic advisory bodies of the two parties, Tô Lâm said Việtnam is working towards completing the CPV Museum by 2030, coinciding with the centenary of the Party’s establishment.

He called for further Russian support in accessing archival documents and materials concerning Việtnam and President Hồ Chí Minh, Việt Nam’s relations with the international communist movement, support provided by the Soviet Union and other socialist countries during Việt Nam’s resistance wars and socialist construction, as well as the development of Việtnam–Russia cooperation since 1991.

Tô Lâm also proposed enhanced cooperation between mass organisations of the two parties, particularly youth organisations, to enable younger generations to inherit the longstanding traditions of friendship between the two countries and strengthen political and ideological education for young people in the digital era.

He expressed confidence that closer relations between the CPV and KPRF would continue contributing to the development of both countries and supporting cooperation within the international communist and workers’ movement, while promoting peace, stability and sustainable development regionally and globally.

For his part, Zyuganov congratulated Việtnam on its socio-economic achievements and praised the country’s efforts to renew its development model through science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

He expressed confidence that Việtnam would continue to achieve further progress under the leadership of the CPV and General Secretary and President Tô Lâm.

Welcoming the positive development of relations between the two parties, Zyuganov called for greater efforts to implement existing inter-Party agreements in order to further strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation between Việt Nam and Russia.

The KPRF chairman also pledged continued support for strengthening cooperation between the youth organisations of the two parties, enabling younger generations to preserve and further develop the traditional relations between the two countries.
