Oman Participates in International Social Responsibility Forum in Riyadh
Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the second edition of the International Social Responsibility Forum, being hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh under the theme “From Commitment to Impact.”
The two-day forum brings together international experiences and best practices in social responsibility, with discussions focusing on common challenges, ways to enhance the developmental impact of social responsibility initiatives, and the role of social responsibility in advancing sustainability and strengthening partnerships among the government, private and non-profit sectors.
Oman’s delegation is led by Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.
The forum’s sessions highlight the role of social responsibility as a global measure for empowering education and development, strengthening effective cross-sector partnerships, accelerating the growth of sustainable businesses, and harnessing digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) to maximize benefits for humanity.
Dr. Laila participated in a ministerial session on promoting social responsibility globally. She highlighted the continuous development of social responsibility in Oman, both in terms of awareness and practice, supported by the expanding role of the public and private sectors in backing social initiatives and enhancing their impact.
She stressed the importance of strengthening integration and partnership among various sectors and aligning social responsibility initiatives with national priorities. She also emphasized the need to institutionalize social responsibility, ensure the sustainability of initiatives and establish mechanisms to measure their impact.
Dr. Laila further highlighted the importance of supporting and encouraging companies to adopt practices that promote sustainability and contribute to national development.
On the sidelines of the forum, Dr. Laila held a meeting with Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye. The meeting reviewed areas of joint cooperation between Oman and Türkiye in development and family affairs, along with opportunities for exchanging expertise and experiences in related fields.
