Kazakhstan

Almaty, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan is set to host the World Tennis General Assembly in Almaty from October 10 to 13, marking the first time the annual gathering will be held in Central Asia.

More than 262 delegates from 137 countries are expected to attend the event, including leaders and representatives of national tennis federations, international and continental tennis organisations, industry experts and partners.

The World Tennis Board of Directors will hold meetings on October 10 and 11, followed by panel discussions and voting proceedings from October 11 to 13.

The General Assembly will provide a major platform for discussions on the future development of tennis worldwide, including efforts to make the sport more accessible, expand junior tennis, improve sports infrastructure, strengthen the training of coaches and officials, and support the organisation of international competitions.

Particular attention will also be given to supporting national federations, enhancing international cooperation and identifying strategic priorities for the development of tennis across different countries and regions.

The hosting of the assembly in Almaty reflects growing international recognition of Kazakhstan’s role in tennis and the increasing standing of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, headed by World Tennis Vice President Bulat Utemuratov.

The event will also provide Almaty with an opportunity to showcase its sports infrastructure and tennis traditions to representatives from around the world, while facilitating the exchange of expertise, direct dialogue among federation leaders and the development of new international partnerships.

The centerpiece of the programme will be the World Tennis General Assembly meeting on October 13, when delegates are expected to consider and adopt key decisions shaping the future direction of global tennis.

The International Tennis Federation, now operating under the name World Tennis, describes its annual general meeting as the principal forum for member national tennis associations to discuss and decide on major policy initiatives and issues affecting the sport. The 2026 gathering is scheduled for October 12-13 in Almaty.
