Kazakhstan, Oman Sign Eight Agreements to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan and Oman signed eight intergovernmental and interagency agreements following expanded-format talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Following the talks, the two leaders adopted a Joint Statement outlining the future direction of Kazakhstan-Oman relations.
The agreements exchanged in the presence of the two heads of state covered a wide range of areas, including investment protection, air services, financial cooperation, investment, geological exploration and business relations.
The documents included an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments between the governments of Kazakhstan and Oman, as well as an Air Services Agreement.
An agreement was also signed between Samruk-Kazyna and the Oman Investment Authority on establishing a joint investment fund, along with an agreement setting out the main terms of their joint Blue City Rixos project.
The two sides further concluded a memorandum on cooperation in the financial sector between their respective finance ministries and an agreement to establish the Kazakhstan-Oman Business Council between Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Another agreement provides for strategic cooperation in geological exploration between KazMunayGas and OQ Exploration & Production, while a further agreement establishes the terms for the presence of the Eurasian Development Bank in Oman.
The agreements were signed during Sultan Haitham’s state visit to Kazakhstan, his first visit to the country as Sultan. President Tokayev described the visit as historic and emphasized the considerable potential for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed regional and international developments and reaffirmed their commitment to consultation and coordination aimed at promoting security and peace in the region.
