Queen Elizabeth II - Icon of History

Today, is the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II. It was 8th september, 2022 when world lost the icon of history, who ruled UK, and other commonwealth countries from her accession to throne in 1952 to her death.

She was born on 21 April,1926 and became the Queen after the death of her father King George VI in 1952, her reign of 70 years is perhaps the longest period of any monarch in British history, it was also the longest period of any British Queen who reigned the Great Britain.

When Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London in 1926, her paternal grand father King George V was the King of Great Britain. That time was the glorious time of British rule. The myth and strength of the British rule was unparalleled.

The birth of little Princess was welcomed with great love and pleasure throughout the realm. When she reached her education age, she was educated privately at home.

It was the year 1936, when her father acceded the throne at the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII, the ten year old Princess Elizabeth was made the heir presumptive. Just after three years, the second World War broke out, the whole Europe specially the Great Britain became the front line country to face the Nazi Germany.

The Nazi germans started engulfing the neighboring countries till they were halted after the defeat of France. Now the English channel was in their way, to cross this natural barrier between Nazi army and the Great Britain.

A great resistance being offered by the Grest Britain as a leading country of allied forces. This was the most difficult juncture of the British history. The teen aged princess Elizabeth decided to undertake public duties in those crucial days of the World War 2.

She accepted the great challenge, the courageous princess decided to devote herself to boast the morale of her public by making radio broadcasts, she successfully accomplished her mission and British people got courage from her every speech broadcasts. This most successful entry in public made her popular and paved way for her future betterment.

She joined the British army at the age of eighteen which was an other bold step and provided her a chance to face the difficulties of army life. The young princess, at the eve of her 21st birthday, delivered a radio broadcast for her country people, she said, “I declare before you that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong”.

She proved her promise true by her actions and devotion throughout her long reign. She witnessed difficult times to serve the British nation during her long reign. She experienced with 15 prime ministers, beginning with the Sir Winston Churchill and ending with Liz Truss, always preferred the honour, dignity and interest of the British Nation and the imperial family.

She played her royal role in the affairs of Common wealth countries with utmost wisdom and never interfered in their internal or bilateral affairs.

The deceased Queen was a symbol of love and respect for the British and that of royal family. She was loved and respected in the Common wealth nations, her death was regarded as a sad event and unrecoverable loss.

Her death was a great shock for the people of Pakistan, she remained their queen till 23 March,1956 when Pakistan adopted a new constitution and got independent Republic status. She visited Pakistan many times and always was welcomed with great love and enthusiasm, indeed her long reign will be remembered and her wisdom and virtues will be written in golden words in the history.
